We all have bad days and it is normal, but dealing with negativity is another issue. So how to stop negative thinking? The answers are simple and it all depends on ourselves. First, we have to pinpoint the reasons why we feel or think negatively. Is it because of boredom? Do you lack ambition? Are you not growing at all? Do you feel rejected or unappreciated? or you simply think you are worthless? These are just some of the possible questions you may ask yourself and you have to find out the answers to eradicate the negative vibes you are entertaining in your life now.
Know your talents, skills and interests. Self- esteem, self-confidence and self-worth are related to one another, and these three variables are essential in gaining positive outlook and attitude. If you have a low self-esteem the tendency is you will always feel intimidated by others. If your esteem level is low, you will not be confident to show what you can do best and you will definitely feel sorry for yourself and think you are worthless. Keep in mind that you don’t live to please everybody but it is important to start believing in yourself first. Avoid compairing yourself to others and think of your achievements, your dreams and your main goals.
Learn the art of altruism. Do not envy, do not be selfish. Be happy for others and get inspired. It is okay to look up to successful people and be motivated to follow what they do in order to succeed. Remind yourself nothing is impossible if you have faith.
Sit back, relax and have fun. When you get enough rest, maintain a healthy body and practice a productive lifestyle you are certainly living a well-balanced life. The reason why we have what we call “The comfort food” is because we need them once in a while. Chocolates are good to maintain our natural pain and stress fighters called the endorphins. Endorphins or the brain chemicals responsible for our emotions should be stimulated in order to function well with the other parts of the brain also responsible for our feelings. A happy mind is a happy body, vice versa. You may also try engaging to new activities such as sports and leisure in order to feel like living a new life and forget all the stress from the past.
Surround yourself with positive people. Positive people meaning your friends, family, relatives, co-workers, co-community members or anybody who cares for you and believes in you. Never force yourself to fit in a group wherein members make you feel you don’t belong and let you stand aloof from them. They say “To love and be loved is the greatest feeling”, so why do you have to stay with people who don’t see your worth? Spend time with people who can lift you up and value your existence.
How to stop negative thinking? By controlling your mind and remind yourself that you are a worthy person. Nothing can bring you down nor make you feel inferior. You have faith in yourself and your past failures are just springboards for your future success.
